Although the year just began, 2017 is shaping up to be quite a promising year for the department of Systems engineering. The year kicked off with the University of Lagos convocation ceremony which was a cause for celebration especially for the department. If there was any one that was not aware of the existence of this esteemed department, it is certain without the hint of a doubt that after this year’s convocation they have been educated.
On Wednesday, the 25th of January, 2017, the department produced a number of graduates. Among them was Omotuyi Oyindamola, a first class student with an impressive 5.00 CGPA, a feat that was thought almost impossible in the faculty of engineering as this means that the graduate made the A grade throughout her stay in the university. This outstanding achievement made Oyindamola one of the best graduating students in the entire university and we are very proud of her as she has not only been an excellent ambassador of the department of Systems engineering but she also serves as a source of inspiration to those coming behind. Well done Oyinda!
The convocation ceremony came to a conclusion the following day, the 26th day of January. The lecturers were not left out of the festivities as Dr K. Orolu and Dr. A Sosimi both bagged Ph D. degrees in the department that Thursday. The celebration in the department cannot be described and the joy cannot be quantified but I will say that the lecturers looked very scholarly and almost regal in their convocation gowns. Congratulations Doctors, we are extremely proud and honoured to call you our lecturers!
Immediately after the convocation, the department hosted Mr Omoghai Oleghe on the 27th of January. He gave an enlightening seminar on using AnyLogic software for modelling and simulation. It was a very interactive seminar, and a beautiful one if I might add, as both undergraduates, postgraduates and lecturers were in attendance. The department thanks you, Mr. Oleghe, for sharing your invaluable knowledge with us, we were greatly educated.
January was indeed a month full of activities and although it is only February, it is safe to say that 2017 has been a wonderful year for the department of Systems engineering and greater things are still to come in the months ahead!
